As premium partner of the ESL One Dota 2 tournament series and global mobility partner of the ESL, Mercedes-Benz is putting the sport and lifestyle of the current eSports generation in the spotlight. As part of the ESL One Birmingham 2020, the brand with the star will present its new eSports spot in the broadcast of the tournament, which will take place exclusively online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fans of the game Dota 2 can look forward to a continuation of the teaser spot of ESL One Hamburg 2019. The video clip is available under this Link. Further activations, including the selection of the Mercedes-Benz Most Valuable Player (MVP), show the appreciation of Mercedes-Benz for the participating teams and the worldwide eSports community.
The new eSports commercial from Mercedes-Benz will be presented under the claim “New Decade. New Heroes.” The Mercedes-Benz EQC (combined electrical consumption: 20.8–19.7 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km) is depicted in conjunction with characters from the world of Dota2, representing the dawn of a new decade and a new era of mobility. The spot’s unconventional story tells of a new generation of heroes. The protagonists are apparently haunted by their own shadows - but eSports fans recognize the characters from their favourite game in them. Only through the headlights of the Mercedes-Benz EQC do the character and talent of the heroes emerge.
At this year’s online tournament, the Mercedes-Benz Most Valuable Player (MVP) will once again be honoured by an expert jury and fans who can vote online. The winner receives the MVP trophy and can look forward to a Mercedes-Benz vehicle worth 50,000 euros. The total prize money of the tournament amounts to a little more than 300,000 euros. The tournament has been taking place since May 21, 2020 and will continue until June 7, 2020. A total of 36 teams will participate in four regional leagues (South East Asia, Europe/CIS, North America, and China). There is one winning team and one MVP candidate per league.
Well-known Dota 2 artist draws artwork of MVP candidates
In addition to the vehicle and the prize money, the four MVP candidates will receive individual artwork. A well-known Dota 2 artist will draw the most selected characters from the game as their shadow. The artwork will pick up the theme from the new video clip. They will be presented in the stream of the ESL One Birmingham and will be raffled off in a small print run as prints among all participating fans of the MVP voting.

The matches will be broadcast live on the ESL Dota 2 Twitch channel, among others.
