It evoked memories of the classic racing colours of Mercedes-Benz. David Coulthard won the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on 9 March 1997 (McLaren-Mercedes MP4/12, starting number 10) – the first victory for the team. 2nd place: Michael Schumacher (Ferrari F310B, starting number 5).
