  • Stuttgart, Mar 17, 2022 - The two letters SL are the world-famous hallmark and distinction of a unique Mercedes-Benz sports car tradition: for 70 years, the abbreviation has stood for “super-light” and thus for sporty motoring – from the 300 SL racing sports car (W 194) from 1952 to the latest SL in the 232 model series from the sports car and performance brand Mercedes-AMG.

  • Stuttgart, Jun 14, 2021 - Mercedes-Benz pays tribute to Sir Stirling Moss at the place where he celebrated his greatest success: in a homage to the outstanding racing driver, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR (W 196 S) will be driving off the starting ramp at the start of 1000 Miglia in Brescia, Italy, on 16 June 2021.
  • Stuttgart, May 28, 2021 - “Two letters, one legend: SL”. The tactilely refined title page of the new Mercedes-Benz Classic Magazine already promises plenty – readers can feel the radiator grille with their fingertips. It depicts the oldest sports cars with this magic model designation, the 1952 300 SL racing car (W 194) with chassis number 002.
  • Stuttgart, May 26, 2021 - They were unforgettable successes: at the fifth edition of the Mille Miglia in 1931, Rudolf Caracciola and his co-driver, Wilhelm Sebastian, were the non-Italians to win, and did so in a Mercedes-Benz SSKL, against the favoured local heroes.

  • Stuttgart, Apr 27, 2021 - In the autumn of 1961, Mercedes-Benz was, once again, ahead of its time. Only by a few months this time, but the promise it contained was clear: the next spring season was sure to come. The herald of the motoring future for the coming spring was the W 111 luxury class Cabriolet, a direct predecessor of the S-Class, and was unveiled at the International Motor Show (IAA, 21 September to 1 October 1961) in Frankfurt am Main.

  • Stuttgart, Mar 25, 2021 - No less than two milestones in the history of Mercedes-Benz were achieved by the important “Nice Week” racing event from 25 to 29 March 1901: 120 years ago, the era of the modern car began with the victory in Nice of the Mercedes 35 hp made by Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft and, at the same time, the Mercedes brand name was born.

  • Stuttgart, Feb 25, 2021 - On 15 February 1936, Mercedes-Benz presented the 170 V (W 136) at the International Automobile and Motorcycle Exhibition (IAMA) in Berlin. This marked the beginning of a success story for the brand: fifty years after the invention of the car by Carl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler, the technically sophisticated and visually striking 170 V became a bestseller and secured Mercedes-Benz a top position in the medium-size car category. No less than 140,386 of the 170 V were produced.
