Junior football elite in Sindelfingen: SK Rapid Wien wins the 2020 Mercedes-Benz JuniorCup

Jan 5, 2020

For two days a total of eight teams from England, Scotland, Portugal, Austria and Germany played each other at the Glass Palace in Sindelfingen. The winner of the tournament was SK Rapid Wien, with a score of 4:0 against RB Leipzig in the final.

On the two days more than 10,000 spectators watched a well-balanced tournament and youth football at the highest level, culminating in a final between the two best teams. Third place was taken by VfB Stuttgart, which defeated Glasgow Rangers with a score of 3:0. As in 2019, Yusuf Demir (SK Rapid Wien) was voted best player of the tournament, and the best goalkeeper was Moritz Schulze (RB Leipzig).

Thomas Hitzlsperger, former member of the German national team and Chairman of VfB Stuttgart 1893 AG, was once again the patron of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz JuniorCup as he was last year: "I was very happy to be patron of the Mercedes-Benz JuniorCup once again. The tournament is a flagship event for youth football. It gives the players an enormous opportunity to shine on the international stage in front of so many spectators and to grow upon this challenge."
